Originating out of the HBO comedy series Doll & Em which ran for two seasons, King Bee has been growing ever since. After producing the independent film To Dust which won the Tribeca Film Festival audience award and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, King Bee signed a first-look deal with the global studio Lionsgate, and has offices in NY and London.
We have a full slate of film and television projects in various stages of development. These include a psychosexual thriller-comedy series, Looker, based on the book by Laura Sims. Emily Mortimer and Jessica Biel are set to star and Ellen Fairey (Nurse Jackie, The Sinner) is adapting with Kirsten Kearse. King Bee is developing Grand Forks, a dark-comedy series set in Fargo, North Dakota based on the short One Cambodian Family Please for my Pleasure, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Liz Tuccillo (Sex and the City, Divorce) is writing with creator AM Lukas based on her family and their immigrant experience.
On the UK side, we’re reimagining John Mortimer’s iconic series Rumpole of the Bailey with Sister Pictures (Chernobyl), and adapting Araminta Hall’s novel Everything and Nothing, a dark psychological thriller. King Bee is also developing a feature with A24 and adapting an iconic piece of IP for a major streamer.
